At nearly 90 years old, Professor Ho Ngoc Dai still devotes his heart full of enthusiasm to education, always concerned and worried about every step of development of the education career in Vietnam. It is not wrong to say that his whole life he has only done one thing, despite all the hardships and difficulties, he has continuously sought solutions to bring his scientific work on education into life.
At the launch of his latest book, "Modern Education", Professor Ho Ngoc Dai emphasized that modern education needs to have its own philosophy, which is "Modern children give birth to themselves, become themselves, become a unique individual, one of a kind on this planet". He said: "Fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education is essentially fundamental and comprehensive innovation in pedagogical skills".
Professor Ho Ngoc Dai's new ideas and approaches to education have been demonstrated through his activities at the Experimental School, attracting public attention. Many people support his approach, considering it a direction that should be encouraged. However, many people also oppose it, arguing that it is impossible to experiment on young children.
Regarding the educational technology model at Giang Vo Experimental School initiated by Professor Ho Ngoc Dai, the late General Secretary Le Duan commented: "It will take several decades for society to understand this method."
At the meeting, former teachers also shared their thoughts on the ups and downs of 45 years of educational technology. Many delegates also discussed what is the philosophy of modern society? From there, what is the philosophy of modern education? Who is the subject of modern education?
How to educate to meet the development process of modern society, thereby developing modern people suitable for that society. The content of the book "Modern Education", according to Professor Ho Ngoc Dai, is the method of design and construction, instead of explaining - memorizing in the traditional way, with the goal of letting each child become himself, become a unique individual, one of a kind on this planet.
To do the above, it is necessary to fundamentally and comprehensively reform education, reform from the philosophical principles of pedagogy. Professor Ho Ngoc Dai asked: "What will happen if the teacher does not teach? From "teaching" to "not teaching" is fundamental and comprehensive reform."
Interpreted from a philosophical perspective, "Modern Education" is the remaining piece of everything that Professor Ho Ngoc Dai has said and done over the past 45 years.
