PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THE PROFESSION OF TEACHING IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THE PROFESSION OF TEACHING IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
Introduction:
Teaching is a noble, but vulnerable profession. Noble because it is related to the existence and development of any society. Vulnerable because of that: Education is the business of every living person.
Primary education is a particularly important field, laying the foundation for the entire process of being educated and self-educated of a person. Following that line of thinking, after publishing the book "Modern Education" (author Ho Ngoc Dai) - opening up thinking about educational philosophy and methods of implementing philosophy on the basis of educational technology, Anbooks respectfully sends to readers the second book in the New Education Bookcase: "Primary school students and the teaching profession at the Primary level" by the late Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ke Hao, first published by the Education Publishing House in 1992.
If the book “Modern Education” is a philosophy of education, then the book “Primary School Students and Teaching Profession at Primary Level” can be likened to a “hand-held” handbook for primary school teachers. This is a reference for any teacher or educational researcher in implementing educational philosophy to educational methods, and finally educational activities. It can be said that if Professor Ho Ngoc Dai is the general engineer of Educational Technology, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ke Hao and his colleagues are the designers and constructors.
“Primary School Students and Teaching at Primary Level” describes in detail and thoroughly how teachers can set teaching goals, design activities for a lesson, and ensure student-centered goals based on the psychology of primary school children. The book provides instructions on how to properly prepare 6-year-old children for school, and at the same time sends primary school teachers valuable notes and instructions on the teaching profession at primary level. Readers can feel the book as a letter from an “old teacher” to generations of primary school teachers to continue, with seriousness, love, and thoughtfulness.
Anbooks would like to introduce a book published 30 years ago, included in the New Education Bookshelf, because what the author wrote here is still new. We see similarities between the digital transformation principles of this era - the digital age with the educational philosophy and educational methods of the Educational Technology school that the author - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ke Hao and Professor, Dr. Ho Ngoc Dai devoted themselves to building.
Our country is entering a comprehensive digital transformation process, and the education sector is not out of that flow. If traditional schools teach children according to the method of "Teacher explains - Students memorize" based on experience, then modern education according to Educational Technology is to apply the method of "Teacher designs - Students construct", "Teacher organizes - Students act" according to the principle of digital transformation. The knowledge that children have at this time is living knowledge: Children create, understand, and absorb by themselves, from which they see the beauty of learning and enjoy it by themselves.
The way Educational Technology implements teaching through a series of operations is the foundation of Agile thinking, which is also the foundation of Creative thinking. Recent teaching methods such as: Project-based learning; Student-centered learning... have essentially been described similarly by author Nguyen Ke Hao in the design of teaching and learning activities from 30 years ago.
It is interesting to realize that, several decades ago, in our country, there were thinkers and modern educators whose educational methods they have been implementing are still valid today, even though the social context has changed a lot. For this reason, we would like to keep the content of the book intact without editing or adding any additional content, with the aim of letting readers see the historical value of the work when it was created in the context of the early 1990s.
With a simple, concise, and direct writing style – a recognizable characteristic of authors belonging to the “Educational Technology School” – the book is easy to read, easy to remember, and easy to apply for anyone interested in and practicing education, especially primary education. The book is also very useful for parents with children of primary school age. This is also a valuable document on education and the history of education in Vietnam.
We would like to sincerely thank the author's family and the Institute of Educational Technology for creating conditions for us to jointly republish this book.
Best regards.
